What is Charity Week?
Charity Week is an Islamic Relief project that has been taking place around the globe since the project was conceptualised in the year 2000. Last year, 8 countries took part. Alhamdulilah, with the help of Allah, collectively we managed to raise €2,183.791,09! We fundraised, we baked, we hiked, but most importantly, we united. Charity Week was founded on the fundamental principle of unity. We believe that we can bring about more change by coming together than staying apart. We absolutely believe that there is strength in numbers. There is strength in us uniting for the causes that matter most.
The real story, however, is not about the money or the countries but the unity that is created at all levels – whether our volunteers are young or old, organising or volunteering, donating or collecting, Muslim or non-Muslim. It is this unity that we hope will provide a lasting solution to the suffering of the children of the world. It is this unity that we pray will provide the spark for further like-minded campaigns. It is this unity that we dream of being our legacy for generations to come.
Our aim
Additionally, Charity Week is a completely volunteer-led initiative and we are eternally grateful to every single brother and sister who donates their time and energy to the cause. Our aim is to not only unite the ummah, but to help orphans and needy children. We fundraise and provide aid under three categories; Education, Emergency, Hunger and Malnutrition. Each year, participants get to have their say in where they think aid should be prioritised. You can find more information about this here.
